Marital Status: Married
Occupation: engineering / Rancher / Musician
Residence: Fort Worth, Texas
Last Updated: 10.14.09
Bio: Since it looks like work commitments will keep me away from the reunion, I’ll just have to write something up instead…

There are some events that you can remember in amazing detail, and for me one is the Chinook talent show our freshman year, where “The Elvis Allen Band” (Keith Allen -vocals, Bob Brave -bass, Gary Fuller -drums, me -guitar) performed “Jailhouse Rock”. We probably really didn’t sound all that great, but that event got me hooked on an activity that I would enjoy from then on.

Over the summer of 1978 I joined a band with some other misfits from Mt.Rainier HS, and ended up transferring there for Senior year. Being the “new rockstar guy”, I had a really, really great time that year.

Went to Arizona and got an engineering degree, also playing in some bands and doing some studio recording. Four years of being a poor student (and driving a 1967 Firebird without A/C!) in the hot-hot desert convinced me to never return to to such a hell hole.

Moved back to Seattle and over the next 15 years was an engineer in the aerospace, forest products, and audio/video recording fields, as well as, you guessed it, playing in some bands. At the beginning of the Seattle grunge movement, I ventured into business ownership, starting up a recording studio/video production facility. We did well and I got to work with quite a few extremely talented bands that most people have never heard of, however I eventually tired of the extremely long hours and stress levels involved, closing down in the early 90’s, and returned to the similarly exciting engineering profession.

Married in 1993 to Delana, and started a family, having two boys Arie (now 15) and Alex (12). Going against my previous vow, we moved to Arizona for several years and found it to be much nicer than I had remembered (could have something to do with now being able to afford a nice house with a pool and air conditioning?).

Next (and hopefully finally) we found ourselves mosey-ing on out to Texas, where in addition to my engineering career, we have a small ranch and raise critters of various size. We also picked up another boy, Logan (13) who is our little “heredity -vs- environment” experiment, rescueing him from a path and homelife that was sure to not turn out well.

Overall I feel quite fortunate about how the past 30 years have gone, and the fact that I’m still alive and kicking. Hopefully I’ll be able to make it to the 40th reunion and catch up with y’all there!

  1. This is Bob’s Mom! Oh, how I remember the talent show! That was so much fun. I remember you all practicing down my basement then Bob’s Dad would come home, go down and re-tune the guitars! I heard you all getting better and better and even tho parents weren’t supposed to be at the show itself, there was no way was I going to miss that after all I put up with. So I snuck in the back door to listen. You had actually all sounded better than the real thing but I don’t think anyone cared. They all loved it!!!
Bob, unfortunately, because of the brain damage, doesn’t remember the event. He does tho, remember all the names and places and does remember you when your name was mentioned.
He stayed with music although a little later. Because DuWayne had drums he played those till he got pretty good. Then bought himself a set and got pretty good at drumming. Ended up with a couple of bands although I don’t remember the names other than Christy Flory vocalist who was his brother Chuck’s wife.
He bought a guitar and started learning that and when he moved to CA he found a fellow to teach him more and got pretty good at it.Oh, he started singing also and, surprisingly enough, wasn’t too bad at that either. We are fortunate to have one tape of him singing and playing the guitar with 4 songs on it.
He still loves music and listens to all the old stuff. I have no idea why he listens to AC/DC the most as Chuck says that wasn’t his favorite back then. I will show him your post and picture when I see him next. I[’m aking him to the picnic on Sunday and he’s very excited.
This web site has been great for him, wish there were more on here. Wish there were more coming to the picnic on Sunday but it’s been great seeing what happened to everyone.
